PFC#12: From Night to Day

The Challenge: Restyle a glamorous look that you would typically wear for a night-out-on-the-town into daytime casual wear.

DIY faux fur vest (similar for under $40 here & here) & feather skirt, Sequin shirt: J.Crew (similar) Shoes: YSL (similar), Clutch: made by Janelle, Belt: BCBG

Shirt: F21, Sweater: J.Crew (on sale & available in 9 colors!), Flats: TB, Jacket: Crush Boutique (old)

At first, I thought about using my sequin Gryphon shorts, but you guys seen it a million times, so this PFC called for something different. While I was trying to find an outfit for NYE, it dawned on me to use the feather skirt. Perfect, right? How often do people really wear a feather skirt during the day and not look crazy while doing it?
For me, the idea behind styling any look is not to over think it. My favorite outfits are always the simplest ones. To tackle this challenge, I approached the feather skirt like any old skirt and paired it with items I would wear every day. I also tossed my hair up and wore flats to reduce the glitzy factor. Totally wearable... just not before noon. Ha. Just like Wendy would say, "I would wear this to brunch."

Name: Petite-ish (email entry)
About: I started with a white, pleated skirt. With an untucked striped tee and open-toe sandals, the skirt is casual enough for a summer morning at the farmer's market or walk along the beach. A jeweled sash, black blazer, and heels dress it up for a winter party or date night. Because pleated skirts tend to be voluminous, defining the waist is especially important, so belts are a must!

{outfit 1}shirt: Aerie, skirt: Anthropologie, sandals: Target (old), necklace: DIY
bracelets, earrings, belt: gifted
{outfit 2}skirt as dress: Anthropologie, blazer: Banana Republic (old), sash: J.Crew, pumps: Guess (old), necklace, earrings: gifted

  1. I love that you made feathers work for the day! If you really want to push the limit, you should wear it before noon with a mimosa in hand! :)

Regarding the email entry...the skirt as a dress is a great idea! I have a long skirt from Anthropologie that I never wear, I will try this! Thanks for the inspiration! :)

it to my 4 year old daughter and said "You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear." She put
the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab
inside and it pinched her ear. She never wants to go back! LoL
